Ever over indulge the night before and pay for it the next day, or is it just me? There’s no judgement here. This isn’t a sermon on the woes of alcohol usage either. Most of us are aware of the consequences of over doing it anyway.
There is no magic cure for a hangovers, except not drinking. However, there are a few natural remedies that can help curb the effects of a hangover.
If you know before hand that you are going to be drinking heavily, here are a few things to get the party started, before the party gets started.
Hydrate Yourself- Pretty obvious huh, but a lot of the hangover symptoms come from dehydration. The trick is to keep the water going before, during and after. You might want to down a glass of water after each drink and before you go to bed. See if you can get maybe 2-3 glasses of water in. You’d also do good to get some electrolytes in your system as well, like coconut water or bouillon soup to restore some of the salt and potassium you’ve lost. You can never go wrong with green drinks either.
Take Some Activated Charcoal– This one is a tried and true for me. I take a couple of capsules while I’m drinking and a couple the next day if I need to. The charcoal helps soak up the toxins. It works best with water to help with the flush.
Grease Up- Down 1 or 2 teaspoons of olive oil before you start drinking. It’s suppose to protect the stomach lining and slow down the absorption of alcohol. A lot of people say eating greasy food before you start drinking, gives the same effect.
Put Something On Your Stomach- You should never drink on an empty stomach, just not a good idea. Put something on your stomach. I tend to go toward meals with bread or pasta. No matter what I eat, I usually take a couple capsules of milk thistle with my meal to give my liver some support. Some people
